Focus and Scope

Scope

Focus & Scope

Comprehensive coverage of infectious disease research from molecular mechanisms to global health impact

Research Domains

CETID welcomes submissions across three interconnected pillars of infectious disease research, fostering the integration of clinical, epidemiological, and translational perspectives.

Clinical Research

Clinical trials, observational studies, diagnostic accuracy studies, therapeutic interventions, antimicrobial stewardship, and patient outcomes research.

Epidemiology

Disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, spatial epidemiology, mathematical modeling, risk factor analysis, and disease burden estimation.

Translational Research

Biomarker discovery and validation, diagnostic development, vaccine research, drug discovery, host-pathogen interactions, and implementation science.

Public Health

Health policy, intervention effectiveness, vaccination programs, antimicrobial resistance containment, and health systems strengthening.

One Health

Zoonotic diseases, environmental factors, veterinary public health, and the interconnection between human, animal, and environmental health.

Infection Prevention

Hospital-acquired infections, infection control practices, hand hygiene, environmental decontamination, and outbreak prevention strategies.

Pathogen Coverage

We publish research on all infectious agents affecting human health, with particular emphasis on pathogens of public health significance.

Viruses

  • Respiratory viruses (Influenza, SARS-CoV-2, RSV)
  • Arboviruses (Dengue, Chikungunya, Zika)
  • Hepatitis viruses (HBV, HCV, HAV, HEV)
  • HIV and other retroviruses
  • Emerging viral pathogens

Bacteria

  • Mycobacteria (TB, NTM)
  • Gram-negative pathogens (MDR organisms)
  • Gram-positive pathogens (MRSA, VRE)
  • Enteric pathogens
  • Sexually transmitted bacteria

Parasites

  • Malaria (Plasmodium species)
  • Soil-transmitted helminths
  • Protozoan infections
  • Neglected tropical diseases
  • Vector-borne parasites

Fungi

  • Invasive fungal infections
  • Opportunistic mycoses
  • Endemic fungi
  • Antifungal resistance
  • Dermatophytes

Accepted Methodologies

CETID welcomes studies employing diverse research methodologies that contribute to our understanding of infectious diseases.

Priority Topics

While we consider all infectious disease research, we particularly encourage submissions addressing these critical areas:

  1. Antimicrobial Resistance - Mechanisms, surveillance, stewardship programs, and novel therapeutic approaches
  2. Emerging Infectious Diseases - Outbreak response, preparedness, and characterization of novel pathogens
  3. Tropical and Neglected Diseases - Endemic diseases affecting low- and middle-income countries
  4. Vaccine-Preventable Diseases - Vaccine efficacy, coverage, hesitancy, and implementation strategies
  5. HIV/AIDS and Viral Hepatitis - Treatment outcomes, prevention strategies, and elimination programs
  6. Tuberculosis - Drug-resistant TB, new diagnostics, treatment optimization, and contact tracing
  7. Healthcare-Associated Infections - Prevention, surveillance, and infection control bundles
  8. Digital Health in Infectious Diseases - AI, machine learning, telehealth, and health informatics applications
Research focusing on Indonesian or Southeast Asian contexts is particularly welcomed, though we publish high-quality work from all geographic regions.
